The Istanbul Declaration on organ trafficking and transplant tourism puts forth the principles which should govern ethical organ transplantation. Read the Lancet Commentary on the Declaration as well as the WHO Guiding Principles on Transplantation. Professional societies and governments are urged to endorse the Declaration and, where this is lacking, to develop regulations to implement the principles contained therein. SARS is one of the organisations that have formally endorsed the Declaration.

Amendments to the training guidelines for nephrologists - the oral exam is replaced with an objective test which is written in the same week as the basic science and clinical papers, and there is increased flexibility with respect to training time.
