This section of our website will feature practice guidelines which may be of interest to our members and will not be limited to nephrology only. The emphasis will be on guidelines developed locally.

The Istanbul Declaration on Organ Trafficking and Transplant Tourism puts forth the principles which should govern ethical organ transplantation. Also read the Lancet Commentary on the Declaration as well as the WHO Guiding Principles on Transplantation. Professional societies and governments are urged to endorse the Declaration and, where this is lacking, to develop regulations to implement the principles contained therein. SARS is one of the organisations that have formally endorsed the Declaration.

The SARS Recommendations for the Early Detection and Management of CKD was adopted at the March 2006 Congress (PDF file - 130 kB).

The final version of the Norms and Standards for Dialysis was ratified at the SARS Nephrology Congress in March 2006. You can view or download it (Word doc - 329 kB) here and then post some feedback on the online discussion forum.
